What is a Nappy Cake?

A Nappy Cake is a baby gift made primarily from rolled nappies / diapers which are then formed into 'tiers' of a cake. It is
then decorated with various toys and useful items for the baby.

What are Nappy Cakes for?

Nappy Cakes are mainly given as gifts either at a baby shower, or upon the arrival of a new baby. For this reason, most
Nappy Cakes are constructed with newborn sized nappies rather than larger ones.

Why give a Nappy Cake as a gift rather than flowers?

The simple fact is that while a bunch of flowers is very pretty, they aren't a long lasting or even practical gift for new parents.
Nappy Cakes (well constructed ones at least) are also very pretty items and they have the benefit of being extremely useful
to new parents. Some of the items in the Nappy Cake will still be in use weeks if not months after the gift is given, and in
the case of toys, maybe substantially longer. The thoughtfulness of a Nappy Cake gift will be remembered long after all the
flowers have been thrown out.
